So far i can only think of the holocaust, but i have to be able to write a strong, well-detailed paragraph about it and the holocaust is not my strongest subject. I'd vote for the building of the Parthenon in ancient Athens. When Athens went to war with Sparta, someone (sorry, I forget who) told the Spartans that they would never conquer Athens while the Parthenon stood. It wasn't a prophecy, the point was that the beauty of the structure expressed Athens' pride and confidence and meant that they would never surrender. Granted, the Spartans did eventually win the Peloponnesian War, but they were unable to control Athens for long after.What is a historical event that involved or is related to beauty?
