What are some ideas to gain last minute publicity for an event?

I'm part of a fund-raising committee hosting an event this weekend. We are in an area abundant with tourist and the event is being hosted at a local summer hot spot.

I'm interested in gathering some creative ideas to gain some last minute publicity. What are some ideas to gain last minute publicity for an event?
go to your yahoo main page and click on "more yahoo services" then click on "upcoming" add your event to every different community. g mail, hotmail etc...
Post it on CraigslistWhat are some ideas to gain last minute publicity for an event?
try contacting the local radio station and tell them about the event . maybe they will broadcast it
post signs in high traffic areas(malls, busy streets, ect.), craigslist, recycler, going.com, ect.. you kinda dropped the ball if your just promoting this now. What are some ideas to gain last minute publicity for an event?
print up 2' x 3' yard signs and distribute them all over

small market? big market?

Sign shakers are cheap and very effective. Hire students/interns to stand out in the street with signage.

Newspaper? Do you have one? Get them involved. Articles daily up to event. If you have no clout, some of your board/sponsors do.

Local TV/Radio? Are they involved? Free publicity.

Who are the "celebrities" in your area? Get them involved.
Depends on your product. Think out of the box

by using your product name or type.
