What are some good event ideas for middle school kids to try and help teach and spread awareness about MDA?

I am creating an event at a middle school to raise awareness about MDA. (Muscular Dystrophy Association).Besides talking to the kids about what it is and the history of MDA, what else should I do to make it more interesting? Thanks! What are some good event ideas for middle school kids to try and help teach and spread awareness about MDA?
I think it would be beneficial for the kids if someone with a form of muscular dystrophy came and talked to them. My best friend has muscular dystrophy and he would rather that instead of the kids staring, that they understood what the condition was about and how it affects him.

The thing is as well, that there are so many forms of MD and they all affect people so differently. Some don't affect lifespan at all, others dictate that you won't live past 35. It's so sad.

It would also be great if following that, you somehow helped them to fundraise for the cause. This would give them some sort of a purpose and an aim to help people.

Unfortunately MD does not have a very high profile in Australia.. I know someone who was on the board of the MDA of Australia, but they really don't get very much funding (MS gets a much higher profile to the point where I tell people that my best friend has MD and they automatically think it's MS).

Good luck with it all anyway!
