Is there a difference between an anecdote and a remembered event?

I have to write about examples of anecdotes from a remembered event story, but I don't know what the difference is.Is there a difference between an anecdote and a remembered event?
An anecdote is supposed to be at least somewhat humorous, whereas a remembered event may or may not have been at all humorous. So you need a remembered event during which something funny happened.Is there a difference between an anecdote and a remembered event?
I don't believe an anecdote has to be a remembered event; ie, you could tell a story about someone else's experience.
