Watching the downhill skiing event in the Olympics and those guys are flying down the hill. Wanted to know what the record is for the longest jump ever achieved. What is the world record for longest jump during a downhill skiing event?
there is no record since those jumps are estimates and not measured as are the ski jumps.

What do you believe is the most important event in US history?
What do you believe is the most important event in US history?
Why?
this is a homework question, yes, but I'm trying to come with with an important event that I, a simple answering male, can answer without having to sprinkle and throw in a bunch of bullcrap in it to make it long (like your apparently supposed to do in english essasy) so I'm getting opinions. .
Thanks!i!What do you believe is the most important event in US history?
You have asked a very tough question my friend. There are plenty of things happening currently in the U.S. right now. Specially that the anniversary of 9/11 is upon us again.
Would it be right for you to choose the Tuesday morning of September 11, 2001 as the biggest tragedy so far in our history. That in an instant a super power like the u.s was on it's knees and people became united towards a common foe.
And true heroes came out in that tragedy.
Or would you choose how this nation became one nation under God. When a handful of colonies banded together and rebel against the crown of England against King George. And thus formed their own constitution. Our own bill of rights which we still practice to this day. Not only that our forefathers made a stand against a dictator the king but heroes emerges like Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, Patrick Henry and many more.
A nation that started from 13 state and now is 50. So it's up to you to choose.
Well, it would have to be one of two things.
The first would be when the pilgrims came and settled or Jamestown because that would be the beginning of the US History, coming to America and settling.
The most defining thing though would have to be the American Revolution, without that we wouldn't have the US, we would just be part of the UK.
Probably your best bet would by the American Revolution there is a lot of known facts and that really is the beginning of the US history. What do you believe is the most important event in US history?
The most important event in US history is dropping the A-bombs on Japan. The entire human race is threatened by this act. Not only humans but the entire planet. This point is significant enough. We opened the door for the rest of the world to defend themselves and now the world is at the brink of destruction.
The american revolution. Without that there would not have been an america. We'd all be brits. What do you believe is the most important event in US history?
1. Freeing of the black slaves.
2.The great depression.
3. End of isolationism policy
=) good luck!
The Virginia company willing to put out the money to fund a failing settlement.
Or discoverying tobacco, the cash crop and back bone of the united states economy for the next 100 years
American Revolution--or otherwise there would be no American history.
There are lot of events that define Amercia, some obviously very important such as the Revoltionary War, and some not so apparent, such as how the Vietnam war changed the country. until then the country was rather innocent, you did not bad mouth the government (AKA- protests and riots) you volunteered for military service not spit on the soldiers returning from war, you did not hear that much of "Campus unrest" and so on.
The Revolution or the First Continental Congress are two important times in US history. Then the Civil War was another important era. Then, we were attacked on our own soil on 9/11/01. That was the first attack on American soil since World War II when San Francisco was shelled.
The entry to World War 2. It changed their foreign policies and how they view the world.
The great time Southerners had killing Yankees
till they got evil and started burning city's and killing 78.000 Innocent civilians,
I'm going to have to borrow from several authors, and venture to say it was the Civil War. The war took us from a bunch of individual, self absorbed states and turned us into a united country. It pitted brothers against each other, and resulted in casualties of right around 626,000.
Further, it ended slavery as an accepted institution. That is not to say that everything was rosie, because it wasn't. However, the Civil War was the turning point in this nation's history. It also brought about some amazing technological advances, as wars always seem to do, and advanced medicine and individual rights of all Americans.
The assassination of Abraham Lincoln. Do the rest of your homework yourself.
The Industrial Revolution because it transformed the US into a modern country and lead to many important things such as an increase in immigration, the creation of cities, the rise of big buisness, and the reshaping of the US economy. It also eventually lead the creation of FDA and other regulators.
Definitely the American Revolution, accompanied by the Declaration of Independence. The colonists were being taxed by the British (because the British had been protecting them from the Native Americans and had just finished a war and needed money)...without representation. In other words, the people in Parliament made the laws, and the Americans had no say whatsoever. That, and other major things changed the Americans' view of the British (they used to be proud to be British). Eventually, the American Revolution began, and England and the colonies fought, and we won. =] It is definitely the most important event in U.S. History because a) it proved to not only Britain but to the rest of the world that it's necessary to break away from a tyranny (and that it's possible) and b) we probably would not be here today if we never chose to split apart. Of course, it was necessary for us to eventually split from the British...everyone knew it was coming. Hope that helps =]

What is the best event you've ever been to/wish you could go to if it existed?
What event did you attend that was without a shadow of a doubt, the best event you'd ever seen and why? Or, what event have you always wanted to see someone put on (it's ok if it hasn't been invented yet)? Please be as detailed as possible.
Thank you! What is the best event you've ever been to/wish you could go to if it existed?

What is the best way to get sponsors for a community service event?
I am planning a workday at a fellow church member's home. She is a single mother of three children and cannot afford the upkeep of her home. Because of her stressful financial situation, and the recent loss of her father, she is fighting a constant battle against depression. There are numorous MAJOR repairs that need to be done, and our church group is determined to help her out. We need to raise money, and are looking for help finding sponsors. If anyone has any ideas, please share them with us, so that we can make this event a success! What is the best way to get sponsors for a community service event?
Ask! Seriously. Call up places you think would be interested and explain what you're doing. Ask for their manager or community service liasion (or similar title). A lot of times it's just that easy. I spent 2 months doing just that duing hurricane recovery almost 2 years ago now. Home Depot is a great company who'll almost definately help you out with something. As much as I can't stand them, I'd doubt Wal-Mart wouldn't give you something at least.
Think out your plan and exactly what you want from them before you call. What is the best way to get sponsors for a community service event?
Our library had good response getting sponsors for our summer reading program by sending letters to doctors and lawyers. Many responded with $100 checks.
We felt the fast food places were overloaded with requests for freebies. Our staff also walked door-to-door in the business district asking for merchandise donations. They need to carry a letter explaining the project and verifying their affiliation with the church. What is the best way to get sponsors for a community service event?
Not knowing your location, I can only suggest that you go to the web. There is an organization Love In the Name of Christ (Love INC) See if they have a branch near you. There are christian organizations (again, check the web) where members of your group {Baptists, Methodists, etc} who are professionals in the field that you need repairs would donate their time and services. Investigate. Publish a "Wish List" in your church bulletin or in local area newspapers. Get the media involved. Have her listen to books on tape if she is too busy to read (with children, that could be the case) that will help to lift her depression and the books are available from the library. One of the best books is "YOU CAN HEAL YOUR LIFE" by Louise Hay. Good luck.
First, I appreciate your wanting to help out someone in need. There is an organization that is nationwide that might be able to help you (assuming there is a local chapter in your city/area).
Here in Pittsburgh, PA it is called Rebuilding Pittsburgh. The national website is: http://www.rebuildingtogether.org/index.鈥?/a>
They do exactly what you are trying to do - they rebuild and repair the homes of those in need.
The way it works in Pittsburgh (don't know if it's the same for all places) is that people who have work that needs to be done on their house fills out some paperwork. If approved, a team of people (6-12 people, depending on what needs to be done) comes to the house on a designated day. The team is supervised by a person who's a contractor or other experienced professional. The team stays one day and works on tasks that have been worked out between the homeowner and Rebuilding Pittsburgh.
I hope this helps - Julie

What is the most violent event in the 20th century?
I have to write an essay on a violent event that happened in the 20th century. Anyone got any ides. I don't want to do the Holocaust or the Rape of Nanking since those ones have already been chosen. What is the most violent event in the 20th century?
you should do the st. valentine's day massacre......it was a pretty gory day in the 20th century....
no problem.....hope i helped....
What a dumb "Best Answer".
What a terrible bnes answer
Alright.....It may not have been the most violent but it was still pretty gory.....
World War II
If it has to be more specific, then the Battle of Stalingrad (1942 - 1943) was the bloodiest battle in human history with over 1.5 million dead. It was definitely one of the most horrific events of the 20th century.
To put it in perspective, the atomic bombings caused maybe 200,000 deaths combined compared to 1,500,000 that died in Stalingrad, and the city of Stalingrad was more completely destroyed than either Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
You may to to consider the 1916 Battle Of Somme in WWI as the most violent "event" in the 20th Century. Three million soldiers, over a million casualties, and neither side gained a thing.
Wateva - The bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were atomic, not nuclear.
Check out this website: http://users.erols.com/mwhite28/atrox.ht鈥?/a>
It has the top 30 atrocities of the 20th Century.
My choice would be this: June 4 1989, about 100k students protest for freedom and democracy at Beijing鈥檚 Tiananmen Square. According to the Chinese Red Cross 2.5k people died while 7k-8k people were injured. A historical event that should be used as a reference for generations to come.
Good luck!
I would say in terms of a single event it would hands down have to be the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and then the one on Nagasaki. I don't think you could find any one event that could match that in destruction and lives lost.
The single most violent event was the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima
Try the Armenian Holocaust or the fire bombing of Tokyo in April 45.
Richard Speck kills eight nursing students in Chicago.
Also, the My Lai massacre during the Vietnam War.
The Bataan death march was considered one of the worst incidents during WWII.
the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki

What is a current event relating to the bill of rights?
I am looking for a current event that has to due with the first ten amendments to the constitution. I want a link to the article. The article must directly relate to one or more of the first ten amendments and be recent, like in the past 2 or 3 months. For example, a recent article about these would be great:
Search and seizure
Right to bear arms
privacy
right to speedy trial
death penalty
abortion
Airport security
These are just a few of the many possible articles. I look forward to a good answer :)What is a current event relating to the bill of rights?

What is the best way to present ideas to a local event production company?
My girlfriend and I have some really good ideas that we think an event production company in our city would really benefit from. She is willing to contact them and let them know we have some ideas we'd like to offer them and see if they'd be willing to take us on or let us work through them, but as we've never done this before, what is the best way to handle this? Should she contact them by email or telephone and how exactly should she present it?What is the best way to present ideas to a local event production company?
always call. E-mails can be erased, but a phone call is more difficult to dismiss.
call them, and ask to speak to the productions manager. You may not be able to make your own plays but yuou may have help on them, or they can do the plays/ whatever u have, with you.
